Summary of Operating Guidelines 2009 State Street Farmer's Market Summary of Operating Guidelines Operating Days and Hours Saturdays, May thru October, 7:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.(subject to change)

 

Vendor Classes, Rental Fees
o Full Season Vendor, Homegrown Products
o $60 annually, $10 on the first market day and $50 by July 1.
o 75% of product sold must be grown within 2 hours of market
o Open at least three (3) Saturdays in June, July, August and September.
o Not required to collect sales tax or pay a business tax.

o Monthly Vendor, Homegrown Products
o $30 monthly payable on the first market day of each month.
o Sells on a monthly basis
o 75% of product sold must be grown within 2 hours of market
o Not required to collect sales tax or pay a business tax.

o Daily Vendor, Homegrown Products
o $10 per day payable prior to setting up in designated booth space.
o Usually sells only one product, i.e. Strawberries, fall mums, etc.
o Not required to collect sales tax or pay a business tax.

o Commercial Vendor, Non-Homegrown Products
o $60 annually, $10 on the first market day and $50 by July 1.
o Open at least three (3) Saturdays each month.
o May not sell products offered for sale by Vendors with Homegrown Products
o Must collect state and local sales tax and pay a $2.00 business tax fee for each day of rental; provided however, that the $2.00 business tax fee will be waived in the event that the vendor has a valid City of Bristol Tennessee business license.

o Craft Vendor
o $60 annually, $10 on the first market day and $50 by July 1.
o $30 monthly payable on the first market day each month.
o $10 per day prior to set up.
o Includes one (1), eight foot table and two chairs
o Must collect state and local sales tax and pay a $2.00 business tax fee for each day of rental; provided however, that the $2.00 business tax fee will be waived in the event that the vendor has a valid City of Bristol Tennessee business license.



The Market will furnish one (1), eight foot table and two chairs for each vendor.


Approved Items for Sale

o Produce and plants

o Homemade baked goods, honey, jams, jellies and canned foods
o Cream-filled pastries, custards or other items filled with dairy products may not be sold.
o Compliance with all Tennessee Health Department and U.S. Department of Agriculture guidelines and restrictions are the sole responsibility of the vendor. Proof of certification may be required.

o Meat, poultry, eggs, fish, and seafood
o All meat products, except poultry, must be processed in a USDA inspected facility and have a U.S. Department of Agriculture stamp.
o Fish and seafood must satisfy U.S. Food and Drug Administration requirements.

o Hand-made crafts
o Includes but is not limited to basketry, dolls, toys, floral craft, knitting, lace making, leather craft, macrame, needlepoint, and wood work; artwork, including paintings, prints, drawings, mixed media, photographs, pottery, and sculpture; jewelry; and blended product such as soaps, candles, and fragrances.



Miscellaneous Other Requirements

1. Vendors are responsible for the collection and removal of all refuse generated from their sales space, and for leaving it clean, at the end of each market day.

2. Proper dress and language shall be observed.

3. Vendors shall have access to the market one (1) hour prior to opening and must exit not later than one (1) one hour after closing time. No parking is permitted overnight at the market.

4. Use of on-site electricity and water is permitted only with permission of the market. No portable gas generators are allowed.

5. No vendor shall erect a tent, awning, umbrella or other structure without advance permission of the market.

6. No signs shall be displayed at the market for commercial or advertising purposes, or for the purpose of attracting attention or support for a product, commodity, or service which is not available for sale at the market. No signs shall be displayed for the promotion of any business, political candidate or cause, or any other purpose.

7. No alcoholic beverages shall be sold, given away, or consumed at the market.
