Organizationally the market is operated by the City of Bristol Tennessee with input from an advisory board made up of a representative from each subsidizing governmental agency, farmers and vendors. Staffing is provided through the City of Bristol Tennessee’s Department of Parks and Recreation for on-ground services; with the Department of Community Relations taking responsibility for all advertising, marketing, public relations, event planning and fund-raising requirements such as grant writing and governmental presentations. A market manager is provided on-site each day while the market it is open from May through October.
The State Street Farmers Market has applied for and received grants from the Tennessee Department of Agriculture in Fiscal Years, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010. A grant was also applied for through the United States Department of Agriculture in 2009 for the market and was approved.
The city staff continues to seek grant opportunities for the market.
