The State Street Farmers Market is opening this weekend, Saturday, May1, 2010.
Another year of exciting events and activities are planned. The Troutdale Dining Room chefs will be at the market twice a month, along with another perennial favorite Southeastern Culinary College chefs, sharing recipes and ideas for seasonal produce found at the market. Each and every week live music will be featured on stage in addition to the Chef at the Market programs.
This year the annual market poster presentation has changed format. Beginning with opening day at the market there will be a farmers market poster that is only available for 60 days or until the limited edition prints are gone. In July the second limited addition poster in the series will be available during the months of July and August and during the final two months of the market, September and October, the third in the series will be available at the market.
This is a unique poster series where market officials expect the demand to be superseded early on in each poster presentation by the quantity available.
Each of the poster designs is similar, yet strikingly different, in theme and color. The posters are 11x17 inches in size, making them exceptional to other market posters. Grouping them together for a kitchen display is ideal.
The posters will have a similarity to the new official State Street Farmers Market website that was funded with a grant from the Tennessee Department of Agriculture. The new website features many new areas of interest. Please visit the site at: www.statestreetfarmersmarket.com
The State Street Farmers Market opens every Saturday beginning May 1 and runs through October 31, 2010 from 7:00 AM to 11:00 AM. During the height of produce season the market will open on Wednesday afternoons from 3:00 PM to 7:00PM from July through September. The market is located at 810 State Street in the Downtown Center.
